Comment Policy

(I stole the initial version of this from 5 Pt Salt; they seem to have a decent handle on comments, and I've never had a blog supporting them, so getting some help made sense. Any implementation is, of course, my own responsibility, as is the final wording posted here; consider it an experiment in-process. So if you want to blame 5 Pt Salt for something, make sure it's something on their site...)

I appreciate you visiting the blog. You are my guest. Your ability to post comments should be viewed as a privilege, not a right, so make no presuppositions in that regard.

Comments deemed unnecessarily divisive and/or made anonymously will be rejected.

On-topic comments only (Discussions will remain under their respective posts in one thread).

Show some respect in the language you use.

As usual, don’t feed the trolls.

We reserve the right to reject or delete any comment for whatever reason we deem proper. Please do not expect a response to your comments – you may, or may not, get one.

Please consider relevance carefully before embedding any links in your comments, and do not expect the linked material to make your case for you.

If at all possible (and it is), please try to refrain from posting lengthy comments. The Gettysburg Address had about 270 words, and the Declaration of Independence just over 1300. If your comment starts pushing five hundred words, consider a stronger editing hand. If you feel your point requires length, send an email using the contact page.

If you link back to your own site, your comment will probably be deleted.

Other than that, have at it, feel free to disagree, but stay civil, etc…
